We took pictures today that have a large amount of negative space. This enables the pictures to have text placed over and still be easily readable. I taught that negative space is the area that is not the subject in the picture. It is just as important to be aware of the negative space as the positive. The negative leads the viewers eye to the subject. If the picture has no breathing room (negative space) then the picture looks cluttered.
The assignment for this week is to take 5-7 pictures of a particular subject and make them into a powerpoint with each picture being the slide and one line of text to enhance the picture. By Wednesday the students are going to have their pictures taken and we will begin to make the PowerPoints.
